The situation
RC Builders had the reputation and none of the visibility. Work came from people who already knew them, which is a good problem right up until a slow month. When a homeowner two towns over searched for a contractor, nothing on the internet connected RC Builders to that town, so nothing came back.
What we built
A site whose structure follows how homeowners actually search.
- Service pages for the work they take, written in plain language instead of construction vocabulary
- A service areas section, so each town they cover is a real page rather than the same paragraph with the city name swapped
- A projects section, because a homeowner deciding on a kitchen wants to see a kitchen, not read about one
- Reviews given a place in the navigation instead of a widget in the footer, since the reputation was already the strongest asset
- The license number, hours and phone in the top bar on every page. CSLB #1081425 answers the first question a cautious homeowner asks
- A Free Estimate button held in the header rather than waiting at the bottom of a page
- Local business and service structured data, so search engines can read the coverage without inferring it
What it does now
The site answers what a homeowner is actually asking, which is whether this contractor works in their town and has done this job before. Booked work no longer depends entirely on who happens to know them.
