Web design for plumbers

A plumbing website built for the person standing in water.

Some customers find you mid-emergency, on a phone, with one hand free. Others are planning a water heater or a repipe and comparing plumbers. A good plumber website is built for both.

The real problem

What should a plumbing website actually do?

A phone number on a template is enough to be found by name, and not much else.

An emergency customer needs three things in five seconds: that you do the job, that you cover their town, and a button that calls you. Many template sites bury all three under a slider and a paragraph about family values.

A planned-job customer needs more: what a water heater replacement involves, whether you do tankless, what the warranty is, and proof from real jobs. That is a page per job type, and it is also exactly what Google needs to rank you for "water heater replacement" instead of only your company name.

In California there is one more requirement many templates skip: a licensed contractor has to include the license number in all forms of advertising, and CSLB’s definition reaches electronic advertising. We put it where it belongs from the start.

Template versus built

What the customer sees in the first five seconds

A plumber template

  • Phone number in tiny type in the header
  • One "services" page listing everything
  • Stock photos of a smiling stranger with a wrench
  • License number missing or buried

A site built for plumbing calls

  • Tap-to-call on every screen, always in reach
  • A page per job: drains, water heaters, leaks, repipes
  • Your own trucks, crew and finished work
  • License and service area stated plainly
to call, from any page on a phone

What does a plumber website include?

A real build, written around the jobs you want, with SEO in it from day one.

01

Built for the emergency call

Tap-to-call that stays on screen, your hours and after-hours policy up front, and pages that load fast on a phone signal in a basement.

02

A page per job

Drain cleaning, water heaters, leak detection, repipes, sewer lines. Each one is its own search, and a single services page ranks for none of them.

03

Service-area pages

Real pages for the towns you cover, with local detail. Three honest ones beat twenty copies with the city swapped.

04

Proof from real jobs

Your crew, your trucks and finished work from your own phone, organized by job type. It is the strongest thing on the page.

05

License and trust details

License number, insurance, warranty and reviews where a careful customer looks for them. In California, the license number is required in advertising.

06

Google profile, connected

Your Google Business Profile set up to match the site, so the map pack and the website tell Google the same story.

Specific to plumbing

Rules a California plumber’s website should follow

Short, specific and sourced. Each one links to the statute or Google’s own page.

    License number in all advertising

California requires licensed contractors to include their license number in all forms of advertising, as the registrar prescribes.

    "Advertising" includes electronic

CSLB’s regulation defines advertising to include any electronic transmission and any form of directory, so the site, the profile and the listings should all carry it.

    C-36 is the plumbing classification

Plumbing contractors are licensed under C-36. Naming the classification beside the number is a small detail a careful customer notices.

Plumbers can run Local Services Ads

Google lists plumbers as an eligible category, and the badge those ads carry is now called Google Verified. The site behind the ad still has to close the call.

How does a plumber website get built?

Fixed scope, clear order, and a site live in weeks, not months.

  1. 1

    Review what you have

Your current site, your Google profile and how you rank for the jobs you want. You keep the findings either way.

  2. 2

    Pick the jobs

We decide which job types get their own pages first, usually the high-ticket work you want more of.

  3. 3

    Gather your proof

Your photos, license, warranty and reviews. We sort and write around them.

  4. 4

    Build and launch

Fast, phone-first pages with tap-to-call, connected to your Google profile and measured from day one.

  5. 5

    Measure in calls

Calls and booked jobs by page. If a page is not producing, we change it.

Frequently asked

A call button that is always in reach on a phone, a clear list of the towns you serve, a real page for each job you want, and proof from your own work. Speed matters more than design flourishes, because many of these visits happen mid-emergency.

California requires licensed contractors to include their license number in all forms of advertising, and the CSLB’s definition of advertising includes electronic transmissions and directories. Showing it on the site is the safe and trustworthy choice.

It depends on how many job and town pages you need. Our website cost calculator prices it in five questions, and our plans are on the pricing page.

Plumbers are an eligible category for Google’s Local Services Ads, and those can work well. They work better when the site behind them can close, which is why we build the site first. Our post on plumbing marketing stages covers the order.

With Local Pro, the foundation is: page structure, speed, job pages, service-area pages and your Google profile. Starter Presence is a single page. Ongoing SEO, like adding pages and building reviews, is a separate monthly plan if you want it.

Yes. Our local work is Salinas and the surrounding towns, but sites are built remotely for plumbers anywhere.
