Get chosen before anyone calls the front desk.
A new patient picks a dentist from the map pack and the reviews, usually in one sitting on a phone. By the time the phone rings, the decision is made. Dental SEO is about being the practice that decision lands on.

The real problem
You are not competing with the dentist down the street. You are competing with directories.
Search "dentist near me" and look at what actually ranks. The map pack, then Zocdoc, then Healthgrades, then another directory. Those companies do not clean teeth. They collect the click, charge the practice for the lead, and list your competitors on the same page they list you.
The dental marketing agencies are not much better a fit. Most of them are built for DSOs and multi-location groups, sell year-long retainers, and report keyword positions instead of new patients. A single-location practice buys a lot of process and very little attention.
The way out is the part directories cannot buy: your map pack position, which is decided by your Google Business Profile and your reviews, and treatment pages that actually answer what a nervous patient is asking at 9pm. That is winnable work for one practice in one city.
What dental SEO actually involves
No retainer for "ongoing optimization" with nothing to show. Here is the list.
01
Google Business Profile
Categories, services, hours, insurance details and photos set up so you show in the map pack for the treatments you want, not just your practice name.
02
Review engine
A consistent ask after appointments, at the moment patients are most willing. Reviews are the biggest lever on map pack position and the first thing a new patient reads.
03
Treatment pages that rank
One real page per treatment: implants, Invisalign, emergency visits, cleanings. Most practice sites have a services list and nothing for Google to rank.
04
Answers patients actually search
Cost, insurance, what the first visit looks like, does it hurt. The practice that answers plainly gets the click and the trust.
05
Speed and mobile
New-patient searches happen on phones, often in pain. A slow site loses the appointment before it loads.
06
Measurement in appointments
Calls and booking requests, not ranking screenshots. If a page is not producing patients, we change it.
How we run it
Fixed scope, clear order, and you can see the effect at the front desk.
- 1
Scan what you have
Your Google Business Profile, your rankings by treatment, your reviews against nearby practices, and your site speed. You get the findings whether or not you hire us.
- 2
Fix the profile first
The map pack is the fastest win for a practice and it costs nothing but attention. It gets fixed before anything on the website.
- 3
Build the treatment pages
The pages that let you rank for implants or Invisalign instead of only your own name. Written to answer real patient questions, not to stuff keywords.
- 4
Turn on the review loop
A repeatable ask after visits. It compounds: more reviews lift the map pack, the map pack brings more patients, more patients bring more reviews.
- 5
Measure in new patients
We report calls and booked appointments. Rankings are shown because they are diagnostic, not because they are the goal.
Frequently asked
What is SEO for dentists?
Making your practice the one Google shows when someone nearby searches for a dentist or a specific treatment. For a local practice it is mostly your Google Business Profile, your reviews, and real pages for the treatments you offer. It is not buying leads from a directory.
How long does dental SEO take to work?
Google Business Profile improvements can show in the map pack within two to four weeks. Ranking new treatment pages usually takes three to six months. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is describing ads, not SEO.
Do I need a dental SEO company or can my front office handle it?
Your front office can absolutely run the review ask, and should. The profile setup, the treatment pages, and the technical work are a different skill set. The honest split is: they handle the asking, someone like me builds the machine.
What matters most for showing up in the map pack?
Proximity to the searcher, which you cannot change, then your profile categories and your reviews, which you can. For dentists specifically, review volume and recency are usually the gap between page one and invisible.
Do you also do website design for dentists?
Yes. If the site itself is the problem, slow, dated, or impossible to book from, we rebuild it. SEO on top of a bad site is wasted money, and I will tell you if that is your situation.
Do you work with practices outside Monterey County?
Yes. The local work is Salinas and Monterey County, but dental SEO is the same discipline anywhere, and the profile and site work is done remotely.
